Sometimes marketing crap really sticks in my craw.

Is that the right term? Maybe pisses me off is better.

Have you seen the ad by one of these baby formula companies that has comfort proteins in their formula? Do you know what a comfort protein is? It's a smaller protein, so that a baby can absorb it. I sh*t you not.

I almost recall having written this thread before, but I'm almost shaking with an uncontrollable fury to think that they have this ad because they believe (and are probably right) that some parents will buy this small-proteined formula, because their child is small and thus should have smaller proteins in their food.

In other news did you know that kids should not drink water out of large glasses because it cannot be absorbed properly? Have your child drink out of a small glass only.

i remember when my son was a baby, we thought about giving him Carnation forumla (the stuff w/ "comfort" proteins).

marketing to new parents is extremely easy. new parents are always worried about giving their kids the "best" stuff out.

Sometimes the type and brand of infant formula will make a big difference in your baby's pattern of elimination. Most "regular" iron-fortified infant formulas contain a combination of two types of cow milk proteins-the hard, curd-like casein and the softer whey. This softer, "comfort" protein, digests easily, as does breast milk, and parents report softer stools, with a similar frequency of movement as breast-feeding babies. I suggest that you check with your baby's pediatrician before making any feeding changes.
I will be truly damned if there is anything to that crap. Ah I see on another link they refer to whey as a comfort protein. Well then it's a totally different protein altogether isn't it...the commercial definitely referred to a small size though.
