Sometimes it doesnt pay to splurge on one thing and be cheap on another

So i was talking to my freind this morning and he was telling me about how last weekend he and some of his brother's freinds took they dirt bikes and quads out.

Well this guy thats a freind of theirs bought a new quad and wanted to take it out for the first time. Brand new beautiful machine, never been ridden, fresh out the dealer.

Well they go over his house, because they told him they would help him load it on the trailer he got for it, well he brings it out and brings out some nasty looking tattered straps to hold in on the trailer.. well my freind tells him that he should get some new ones cuz they looked like they were on their last legs. Well the guys takes off half an hour later comes back with the cheapest looking things money can buy.

They voice their concerns but he is adament they would be ok..so they tie it down and head off....

So they are cruising at about 60 mph and the thing decided to fall off proceed to roll a few times, turns out the straps broke.

Could have been alot worse, luckily they had no cars behind them and the bike only has about 600 bucks worth of damage nothing internal.

Moral is this guy plops a load of cash for a new bike but cant bring himself to buy good straps.....pretty sad IMHO

Ouch! I'm kind of the same way. There is no real pattern to it. I'll buy something nice in one area and in another getting the cheapest damn thing i can.

I've learned the all might lesson, "you get what you pay for" as it has bitten me in the a$$ a few times. Now I try to buy not necessarily top of the line stuff but make sure it's decent quality and not be a cheapskate.
