Sometimes I miss cable

We recently moved and we were unable to get cable. Our first choice was DirecTV, but they couldn't find a line of site so we got Dish instead.

Anyway everytime we have a thunder storm (every afternoon this week) our Dish goes out. Once the storm is over its fine.

Is there anything to do about this? or is this normal?
 
That depends. What's your signal strength when there are clear skies? Do these thunderstorms come in the form of pretty dark & dense clouds? If that's the case there's not a lot that can be done. But if not you might be able to get a better signal, depends on what's around the dish's line of sight.
