Sometimes I hate my job

I work at a fast food restaurant called Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill. Somtimes like tonight I have a really crappy shift. Everyone doesn't know what the hell is on the menu, they ask five billion questions and demand their food be made exactly how they want it made. I really think the kitchen is in the wrong place, they should take the entire kitchen and put it out front and have every ingrediant in front of them so they can make their own dang food.

This one guy tonight had so many modifications to his order it was too long for the printer in the kitchen and I had to print out another copy for the cooks. Then this woman got all upset because we gave her a platter that had guacamole. The guacamole happened to be on the side so she didn't even have to eat it if she didn't want to, but she demanded that it be taken completely off the plate. THEN she claimed that there was guacamole in one of her tacos when there wasn't and I had to have another taco made for her. I have to quit this job, these people are literally goint to drive me into the mad house.

I hated working in a restaurant. I will never do that again. worst thing is when you close at 10:00, but you're there until 1:00AM cause of the last two guys sitting at one table, who've slowly been sipping on thier martinis for the past 3 hours. Every other table in the place is cleaned, set for breakfast, the lights are off in most of the dining room, and there's about 5 staff members hanging out waiting for them to leave and they never notice.

I wonder if there is a job I could get where I don't have to deal with anyone, especially the public. Just sit at a desk and work on stuff on a computer. I don't have alot of experience, and I don't have a degree yet though.

I know exactly what you mean. I have to close a couple days out of the week and sometimes there are people still in the restaurant after we have closed just talking, not even eating anything. The thing is that I have to mop the entire dining area before I can get out of there and if there are people in the dining area I can't mop because of they slip and fall they will sue. So I have to wait around and then I don't get out the place on time and my shift leader gets on my case.

Web development.

I don't know what type of web development you do, but for us we still have to interact with clients ALL the time. And it's just as bad as customers demanding modifications to their food like the thread starter mentioned. Except in this case, the customer demands modifications to their web applications.

I work for the government. I only work on one site, and I don't have any clients (well, you could count the general public, but I didn't interact with them).

When I was a kid I worked at a Shakeys pizza parlor. When a tour bus would pull up,we would put the closed sign on the door and go hide in the back.I got to where I could not stand the smell of the place,so I quit.(I have been at my present job going on 32 years)

Heh, I know how you feel. I worked fast-food for almost 3 years. I almost never have to talk to the "general public" at my job. Well, I almost never have to hear from them anyway. The only time I really answer phones is when it's snowy outside. Then I have to answer literally hundreds of phone calls while trying to do my job.

I work at a radio station. I'm a board-op, and I do the sports report. Not too shabby.
