When I got here there was a 7 page setup guide on how to setup an accounting tool that connects to our ERP system for data manipulation. It was finicky, cumbersome and a huge PITA to make sure all the settings were correct. Its been 9 months since I last touched the program but I had to re-install it for one of the accountants today. I knew I had messed around with it but couldn't remember what I had done so I went looking for the install doc, having flashbacks to the old lengthy way of setup. It seems I turned that 7 page monster into one line:
Run installer from here. All add-ons and configurations are contained in the installer

Good job Me.

installer didn't work for me

Can you please escalate?

Sorry - you're user name is not in the security file. If you believe you need access to this utility I'll need your manager to fill out the access request form in triplicate and then have the CFO sign it

Going above and beyond doesn't pay anymore. It just keeps you from getting fired.

Yes but now I can spend time neffing instead of plodding through config screens. Be thankful of past Me as you get to benefit from my amazing insights and conversational skills

Just wait...the older you get...the better you were! :p

 You must have been amazing!

This. I like this. That attitude, its bold and proud and fearlessly speaks highly of yourself. Not many people have the balls to be like that. They are too busy being drowned in self hate to recognize themselves for the gift to the world that they are.

:hmm: Well that does look like our CFO's (Mr. Kthxbai) signature but you need to send it to the helpdesk so a monkey can help you. I am much too important for this

lol

I actually feel your pain. I just started messing with our accounting stuff. I got to build a new environment, build inventory, build skus, all kinds of stuff I had zero idea how to do. But I got it done and I felt damn good after.

Well lest be honest here - not all of them are gifts to the world

lol

:nerdfistbumpreturned: At least for me accounting projects are always more of a PITA than the others.

How good you are? Your grammar says otherwise. ;)

I wrote an ERP consolidation installer (unfortunately not a standard SQL-backed system) in a batch file a few years ago...biggest .bat project I've ever done (what a headache, too...had to put in pause timers & garbage like that haha). Saved me soooooo much time though!
