I bought some stuff at a couple of auctions over last weekend with the intent of maybe making a few bucks on it on ebay.....standard stuff.

Two in particular were a Star Wars AT TE Lego construction set.....but it's at least missing its StormTroopers and I didn't bother to count the pieces that were there to see if all the other 646 pieces were there. In my auction I stated there were probably pieces missing, at least all the StormTroopers. Paid $2 for it......about a half-hour to go and it's up to $54.50. Amazing!

Second is a Kevlar US Army helmet. Has a new woodland camo cover, size medium. Last tow I've seen close on ebay went for $61 and $51 respectively. I paid $6 for it and three camo fatigue caps. With about an hour to go it's up to $75. Cannot believe it.

Don't get me wrong....I LOVE IT when the prices are driven up, but do people actually do any research on what the going prices are for items they're bidding upon?

wait, is the helmet actually bullet resistant? and if so what class? IIa? III? IV? if it is III or IV, it could be driven up quite a bit.(not sure class IV helmets actually exist)

I wouldn't have the foggiest idea how to tell its class rating....it's just your standard PASGT Kevlar helmet as far as I can tell.

Wait where did you originally buy these things? A classic auction or eBay?

Classic auction....ONLY kind to buy at. Let's you see your bidding opponent, hear how strong or weak their bidding is, the actual condition of the item before bidding, and is MUCH more intense and exciting....LOL!

seems to be type I(fragmentation protection) or typeIIa(lower powered pistol) max. these can easily fetch around $100-125 if it's lightly used and if it's authentic it might be worth more.

Congrats. I wish I would've sold my parts on their because I know I would've gotten more than I did here.

I've repeatedly sold used, old, outdated CPUs and RAM for more than the prices listed at that moment on Newegg. That's the fun of eBay!

Yeah......I understand the "fun" of ebay.....or buyer frenzy.

Much lke live auctions......things you'd think would go cheap, go high. Things that should fetch the most usually don't seem to.

Went to a bankruptcy auction a week or so ago.......collection of cars that theis person had assembled over the years....48 in this sale.

He had a 1938 Cadillac Fleetwood.....excellent condition for being unrestored. Only got $8,000. It should have closed more around $12-16K.

At the same auction, a 1974 Pinto station wagon, decent shape, but in that horrid avocado green....stick, 4 cyl, A/C....ran well....got $1300.

1974 AMC Concord.....probably waqs the best stock condition car there....interior was cherry, but it was an AMC. (Not exactly the easiest to get parts for any longer.) Ran well enough but needed at least a carb rebuild....got $1250.

VW Beetle...1972, both floor pans rusted out, driver's side running board falling off, terrible paint, not running, missing muffler, engine wiring a complete mess, missing all interior upholstery, carpet, headliner.....got $1375.

Go figure.
