can be found a little class:

<< "I don't think my election hinged on voter fraud in the city," Ashcroft said. "I lost this race because I didn't get as many votes as my opponent did." >>

There are plenty of candidates who say that, except without any words. :)

After seeing Russ's following post, here is what I would like to say instead:

That is quite a nice sentiment, seems like he is taking it well and with class.

Missouri. He's the one who lost to the guy that died in the plane crash 3 weeks before the vote. Some were alleging voter fraud in St. Louis. That was his response.

zippy,

This one is a hell of a lot different than just any candidate. If he challenged the result, he'd probably win.

Even Nixon had enough class to just accept Kennedy's win.

Yes he would win considering law states that the candidate has to be living in the area that he ran for.

there are those who say (i'm only 18) that Nixon chose to accept defeat with class because he'd tried cheating too.

The right thing to do when the Florida re-count + absentee is complete would be for the 'loser' to stand down. While I doubt it will happen that easily, for the sake of the nation, it's prudent.

No matter what the outcome, this is the beginning of a very long 4 years

I'm only 19, so...

I'm sure there are plenty to say Gore tried cheating as well. Russ, care to comment on homeless people+cigs?

Anyone who believes there has EVER been a completely honest election is a bit nieve.

I offered my vote, but they were out of Marlboros so I went ahead and voted for Bush.

Wedesdo,

That figure is from AP "estimates". The same type of people who called Florida for Bore, withdrew it, called it for Bush, withdrew it. The number is meaningless.

Well, Ashcroft said this. The republican party is likely to contest lots of states, depending on how Florida turns out. Don't be suprised if the republican party asks for recount/investigation into voter fraud.
