I ordered it off ebay to replaced my lost ti 89.....

if i take the derivative w/ respect to x of xy, shouldn't i get y? For some reason, it just outputs one. I do not remember, but wasn't the 89 able to do partials?

I got the 89 too. It's been a while since I've done calc, but as far as I remember, taking the derivative of an integer is gonna give you 1 every time. Read the manual, you may have to change the mode you're in also..

isn't it the other way around where you derv Y (the equation... y=3x-3 for example), then get possible values of X?

First make sure your variables are all cleared. Next, make sure you typed in x*y instead of xy

Yup, x*y instead of xy.

But wtf? d/dx (xy) should be 0 if it thinks the variable is "xy", which therefore is a constant with respect to x. I do get 0, at least.

Derivative of a constant (integer) should be 0.

Also, it's possible that the flash memory got fubarred. Just plug it into a USB link cable and load on a fresh copy of AMS (teh OS)

It's a calculator. A small, handheld calculator. It's not the IBM Super Blue 2004, 400-processor, cryogenically cooled Supercomputer.

Throw the fcking thing away, spend $20 and buy a NEW Ti-89.

Now, was that all THAT difficult?

[whiny little bitch]OMG!!!! My calculator won't graph [pi x 3x-square root xal^^0!!!!![/whiny little bitch]

Your drivel annoys me.
