I built a new box using the Asus P4P800 motherboard and P4 2.6 GHz processor. Kingston pc4000 hyper x is providing the memory.
So, it was running fine for a few days, then I decided to flash my bios. I did so successfully. A couple hours later, I decide to enable PAT by turning on Memory Acceleration Mode in the bios, as well as attempting a 5 percent overclock, whose settings were calculated by the bios automatically.
I reset the computer, and I get an error saying I need to replace Windows32/system with windows cd bla bla, i've gotten these errors before with unsuccessful overclocks. So I reset my computer, go into the bios to change everything back. Before I could redo the settings, however, my computer just froze. I couldn't move around in the bios anymore. I reset my computer, and now it won't POST!!
Hard drives and cd rom spins, fans all work, but no beeps and nothing received by my monitor. I tried resettings the CMOS, taking the battery out and back in, even reseating all my cards, memory, and processor, but I still get the same result.
What could have gone wrong? Do I need to RMA my new motherboard? I'd rather not. I'm inclined to think this had something to do with my bios flash, but the flash was successful, so ianno. Someone please help, i'm on my last nerve
