Yesterday, when I went Start=>Turn off computer => Shut down, the PC wasn't shutting down properly. It just went black immediately, just like when you press the power button manually for 5 s. Then the PC restarted automatically. I turned it off again and it worked properly this time.
Today, Windows reported a serious error but wouldn't go into the details (the window that appears when you want to send in an error report). Now however, Firefox behaved as if it had just been updated to 2.0.0.4 and the bookmarks are cut back to as much as three months ago. However, I had already updated it to 2.0.0.4 three weeks ago.
A similar instability to this already happened a few times but I didn't lose any bookmark data and Firefox didn't go crazy.
I don't know what's going on but I suspect four likely possibilities:
1. PSU. The PSU has been making noise on boot up for a long time now. I can't remember if it did it since the beginning. Probably not. (My old PSU had the same issues. Coincidence? Or is it because of the running AC (voltage spikes), or the dust at the back of the PC?)
2. Virus. Always a possibility..
3. Driver/software issues
4. HDD/BIOS issues. I had to time my RAM because my motherboard wouldn't eat lower latencies, when I got the PC. The HDD could also be a factor considering the instability in power here...
What do you think?
Thanks in advance for any help
