Something to think about- AMD & Memory

Had a "light bulb" moment this evening- want to know if any of you have noticed this:

I've built about 12 Athlon/Tbird systems since they came out 2 years ago. Used a variety of boards (of course) but one thing seems to be in common- I've never had a BSOD on ANY system I've built using Crucial Ram. Now, I've used other brands, but those have had the occasional problem- doesn't seem to matter whether it's Kingston, Generic, PNY, whatever. Not necessarily what I'd call bad problems (except for 1 so-called
"guaranteed" compatible generic PC133 chip that would lock the machine up every time I'd do anything with the CD-Rom), but ones that would clear up upon replacing the memory with Crucial.

Is it just my luck, or has anyone else noticed this as well?

Crucial/Mushkin........yeah, either one will give you good results, but, I think more than that, you get out of it what you put into it!;) Use good quality parts overall and you'll have a good solid system most of the time..........use cheap parts and cut corners and that's what you'll end up with.......a cheap system with a multitude of problems!;):)

ToBeMe-
Overall I agree, but this seems to cover the range from a Couple of "cheap" PC Chips builds to the latest Asus/MSI- about the only thing in common is the Memory.

BTW, This ain't meant as a "testimonial" for Crucial, just curiousity...

Built 4 Athlon systems so far, 2 classics & 2 t-birds, 3 with Crucial Memory and 1 with some Kingston (ValueRam no less) Still, they have all been problemless for the most part and very stable. I agree with ToBeMe though, if you stick to companys known to have good quality control, it will benefit you in the end.

My most recent build, with Crucial PC2100 DDR, had some major problems at first because of - GASP - a bad Crucial DDR DIMM. :Q

Oh well, have to expect defects sometime, even from the best manufacturers. (They replaced the DIMM right away with no hassle :) )
