Something to look forward to for Socket 754?

I got a Socket 754 type system (see sig) that i built back in November. I always have upgradeitus so i started doing some research. I figured i'd probably have to wait until i could afford a whole new socket 939 type system, to justify the upgrade. Though i came across a new chip coming out (or maybe it is out) for Socket 754 that looks pretty nice, it's some kind of mobile A64 90nm CPU with 1mb l2 cache. Does the word Newark ring any bells? I'm kinda clueless about this chip as you probably noticed, i can't seem to find much info about it anywhere. What's the story with this CPU? Is it something to look forward to or should i just forget about it?

I was hoping that would be the way to go, then i wouldn't have to build a whole new system i could just replace my CPU. Assuming it's not something made up and is compatible :p

Bleh... you can go up to 3700+, which is EXACT SAME as a 4000+; 2.4Ghz and 1Mb L2. No need to change plataform whatsoever.

Also, you can overclock. Your processor should reach AT LEAST 2.3 without much problem.

Oddly enough my A64 won't go to 2.3 ghz, probably not even 2.2 ghz by now. The peak of it's overclock seems to lower the more i use it. When i first got it it would do 2.4 ghz without any problems, then after a while (a month or two) it wouldn't boot at 2.4 ghz so i had to take it down to 2.3 ghz, now it won't even run at 2.3. So i've just been running it at the default 2.0 ghz now, hopefully it'll stay here and not go any lower.

The Socket 754 chip i was referring to is 90nm. Not quite sure what you're talking about...though it is late, so i'll check again tomorrow.

I have basically the same rig as you do and can't get mine to be stable even at 2.37 which i'm running it at now. It's only semi-stable. I've never been able to hit 2.4 no matter what setting I used. If I were you I would just go skt 939 and not have to worry about being able to upgrade. I plan on doing that at some point this summer if I get the $$$

If you're itching for an upgrade, you can probably move up to a gig or two if your signature is up to date ;)

That Newark looks sweet. I'm still glad I ditched my DFI NF3, though. That thing was a piece of crap. The NF4 Ultra is soooo much better.

Thanks, that's what i'm looking for...is that "newark" chip out yet and does it cost a boat load?

Yeah the DFI NF3 is definitely overrated, i'll probably stick with it if i can though, to save some coin.

I gotta update my sig a bit.
