Something special about a 1989 Isusu Trooper?

My family owns a 1989 Isusu Trooper. One of these:

We get about 3 or 4 notes put on it a year (it is parked outside) offering to buy it. This has started to make me wonder if there is something awesome this car can be converted for or used for that we just haven't realized or have no need for. So basically, is there something special about my almost 22 year old car I'm missing?

Last years of the solid axle mid-sized SUVs will always make them sought after by off road guys. They also have fuel injection which makes them pretty reliable and prevents fuel starvation on inclines

The Trooper always had IFS

I had always thought the first generation was solid axle.

My Dad has an Amigo, and the way it rode I just always assumed it was a solid axle.

I'll give you 300.

PS: I drive one in a helluva lot worse condition than anything you most likely own, but I love it.

Mine is in really good condition. Then again we have put loads of money into it to keep it going. It has a lot of sentimental value to the family member who owns it. We replaced the engine and clutch last year. Currently the electrics cause problems at random, but other than that it is running fine.

I know a guy who has a 1989 Isuzu Trooper, I don't think it has ever been driven off-road, just the suburb jungle of Fort Collins. It still runs great.

Brilliant off road machines for real men. 😎

They are very popular with the gays I hear. Lots of room for man on man orgies out in the great outdoors away from their unsuspecting wives...but you probably know that already being that your an avid "off-roader" and all. 😉

I purchased mine for 600 and have 200 into repairs. I figure that if I put ~3k miles on it (purchased it at 189k, now at 190.5k) it'll pay for itself in spades.

Well, I wouldn't know that, but you seem to have all the knowledge on it. Possibly something you do on the weekends? Let's see, OP is from Cali, you're from Cali...oh there, now you can buy it from him and have all the room you want for you and your friends.

We bought an '86 Trooper II last year with the hope of fixing it up. That didn't happen though, so we decided to sell it.

They're bulletproof machines, though. This one had almost 200k on the clock and ran like a champ. Super simple to work on, too.

When we were younger (15ish years ago), my buddy had one. Never thought it was anything special.

i had a 95 trooper 4 door, thing was a beast. Was pretty good off-road. Too bad the former owner never changed the oil and destroyed the engine before I even had a chance to enjoy it.

Had some bizarre features, it had power side mirrors that would fold in if you park in a tight garage.

There's just something about the look of them I didn't really like, it would sometimes look nice or sometimes look awkward.

there is a 2 door trooper on ebay nearby with a 2.2l isuzu diesel engine swap in it. I'm sure it is slow as hell but it would be a neat beater.
