Zin feel better about posting THAN in size 30 font?

On topic, you know the crowd had to be blitzed to be cheering as they came to a stop. But when they do actually race, it is impressive.

I don't know the actual size...it only goes up to "7." :(

It is a shame, indeed, that AT doesn't allow vBulletin to go all the way up to 11.

oh, and that was also supposed to be caps.

I did some more reading about sprint cycling and it seems like the point is to be in second place going into the final lap so you can draft the guy in first and thus win. So both guys go really really slowly in order to try to get the other to take (or stay in) the lead.

Although I wonder, couldn't one guy just pull away from the other near the beginning and get far enough ahead that the guy behind him couldn't take advantage of the drafting effect? I mean it can only work from so far back.

that's why the guy in front keeps looking behind just in case if the guy from behind tries to pull away from him unexpectedly so he will lose the draft.

Hilarious.

Imagine if this super slow, come to a stop were in other events. Speed walking, running, hell NASCAR haha. I know they draft in NASCAR anyways but imagine the WT rage if for the first how many ever 39487 laps they did this? :awe:

I think it would actually make NASCAR more watchable--as the sprint lap would always result in a catastrophic wreck.

awesome.

...the only thing worse than Nascar is golf.

Easy solution:
Stagger starts by a few seconds, more than 2 people, and go by best time rather than who has a better sprint for the last 50 yards.

It's called the "Match Sprint" for a reason. It's not just about who's fastest overall, but who can beat who head to head. Qualifying is done by a flying 200m time trial. That creates the seeding and then it's best of 3 match races through to the finals. Some races can be won by a clearly stronger opponent just blazing away at the finish, but the better sprinters sometimes have to get through multiple matches in one day, so there is some strategy to saving some strength too. At the highest levels, the differences between two athlete's strengths are so small, a miniscule advantage such as being able to attack from behind absolutely make the difference between winning and losing.

There is a different track event called the individual pursuit where two riders start at opposite sides of the track and race for a fixed distance (multiple laps). The winner is the first rider to cover the distance at his particular starting line. It's also done as a 4-man team pursuit as well.
