This is by far, the most bizarre thing I've ever seen happen to my computer. My DVD-ROM exploded. That's right, exploded. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the cd inside got so hot that it cracked and, spinning at high speed, broke apart. Either way, it was a Pioneer DVD-115 tray-loaded 16x DVD-ROM drive, and I'm down $80. The spinning gyro for the cd broke off and won't fit back on again. Just thought it'd be interesting.
Anyway, I've had this drive for over a year and don't have the receit. Would Pioneer replace the drive? It did ruin my Starcraft: Brood War cd.
