Link does not work here.

Is this what you're talking about? Been around for at least 15 years that I know of. Reminds me of grinders and air raid sirens!

But a single motor running two pumps can be a good idea to a multiple loop system even where a bigger single volute with the proper controls can handle things.

He fixed it. :p

Iwaki/Walchem makes good magnetic drive pumps. Popular with the reefkeeping community.

No. it's a PDF.
They're doing it for the smaller pumps now.

I like those self-priming inlet tanks. Would make bleeding a lot easier and would negate the need for a reservoir, though it might take up most of a stacker on it's own, lol.

Once I get my initial pump top design done I may just assemble my own diaphram style water cooling pump. Can't make one much smaller than the D5 but, diaphram pumps can't be beaten for head pressure and are more than capable of enough flow. Plus they can be easily explanded, a single motor could just as easily run multiple diaphrams for multiple loops. I'm actually more worried about building too much head pressure. Cheap diaphram pumps are still good for upwards of 20psi depending on flow rates. I've seen some BUILT diaphram pumps that are capable of 55psi and still flow quite a bit. I'll always manage to come up with some way to over-engineer the crap out of any project, I'm german.

I would thing diaphragm pumps (and positive displacement pumps too) would be to loud and the pressure pulses would wreck havoc on tubing connections/blocks.

They can be surprisingly quiet if built properly. and a smaller displacement diaphragm combined with a higher rpm motor(harder to keep quiet but, still plausible) should keep the pulses from being too significant. Only one way to find out though!
