Something may be wrong here!?!

I don't know either of the parties involved in this issue and have never posted (prior to the thread in Forum Issues) to support or not support either of their views. However, dmcowen674 started a thread here to complain about a remark by Crimson in his/her thread in ATOT. After several posts to that thread, including mine, that supported the fact that dmcowen674 had really gone nuts and over-reacted to the comment (perhaps as I stated to draw more attention to their thread), a Mod posted the following, " I happen to agree with Dave that your post was a personal attack and uncalled for. After reading your other posts it seems this is a constant with you. Enjoy a few months off!" And then the thread was locked.
What I would like to know is since when has a "personal attack" and an "uncalled for" post been a bannable offense in ATOT?? I can see "personal Attack" definition in this (and that may well be "in the rules") but this seems more to be the "norm" in ATOT and P&N Forums. You can find hundreds (if not more) of this type of post in either ATOT or P&N. Just take a look for youself!! I'm sure I don't have to link to these but it wouldn't be difficult to do so. Something seems to be a bit inconsistant here.
As I stated, I don't have a "dog in this fight" but I just think that this needs some sort of explanation because it seems a bit "one sided." I submit this inquiry respectfully, in hopes that it can be cleared up. Thank you to any Mod that can assist here. Again, I don't know any of the history behind these two posters. I am just taking things at face value here with some limited research.
By the way, the thread I am talking about is here.

He's been unbanned

If the mods want to ban someone, they just find a way to do it. Don't take it too seriously. It's just selective enforcement of the "rules."

That is the reason I posted this; it seemed to be "selective" enforcement. I guess I was hoping (against hope) that the "More Reasonable Mod" could take another look at this and perhaps either shed some light or perhaps modify the actions taken. I know that is a stretch but I get a bit "troubled" when I see this kind of inconsistancy.

I hope I'll be pardoned for answering twice in a row but I couldn't get the reply to quote both replies (like I had hoped) so I could respond to both. Anyway, I'm not sure who "DivideBYZero" is and did not see the particular reason he/she got vacationed in that thread. Like I mentioned earlier, I had no dog in the fight. Perhaps that (the vacation for DevideBYZero) has some relation or info as to why the other guy (Crimson) got some time off; the Mod was in a bad mood or something. At any event, I would really welcome some sort of expanation or clarification, if the Mods would be so kind. I am truely trying to keep a "positive light" on this while expressing my confusion and disappointment in the actions of the (obviously) grumpy Mod. 😉

Exactly. I'm not sure why DBZ was sent packing either and am confused as you are over this. The P&N forum gets heated at times but this episode isn't a blip on the radar screen as far as "personal attacks" go or anything else for that matter. Hell, if this becomes the standard for vacations - P&N wouldn't have any participants after a week or so 😛
*shrugs*

<- hoping for some insight/clarification/explaination into this action by the "grumpy MOD" too.😉

"Seclective enforcement"

The thread dmcowen674 complained about was not in ATOT but in Politics & News. Personal attacks have always been listed as a no no there. (Check Forum Home page.) "PERSONAL FLAMES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED." The Mods certainly don't spend their time reading every post in P&N to see if it might possibly be a personal attack. In most cases they will never know about one unless someone reports it to them. In this case, someone did. While I agree that it was a personal attack (albeit a very mild one), I think dmcowen674 should also be held accountable for his threat. You shouldn't be allowed to do that just because someone says something that makes you mad. In my eyes, you lose all standing to complain when your offense is as egregious as the one you're complaining about. And if dmcowen674 gets that incensed because someone says he won't get a job then he has way too short a fuse to be hanging around P&N. JMHO.

Looks like both bans were given due to what the Mod saw as a pattern of behavior rather that just one specific remark.

All mod actions will be seen as selective as long as there is more than one mod taking actions since no two mods are going to see things exactly the same way and since the majority of posts will never get seen by ANY mods.
