I have a leadtek 6800gt in my comp right now. It has a Zalman vf-700cu installed and i took the stock 80mm off and put a 120mm in its place, but the stupid thing idles at 60C and loads in the 80s. I know this card runs hot, but isnt that warmer then it should be, ambients are about 65-70 in my room, the 120 is pushing about 50cfm. I also recently Lapped the bottom incase it wasnt flat. Anyone have anymore ideas without spending too much money?

I had the same card with the same zalman cooler......
Let me find my notes and I will tell you what my temps were...
Mind you though I have 1-120mm intake fan in the front of my case and I have 1-120 exhaust fan in the rear of my case and 1 - zalman slim fan inside my case to move air right where my memoery is located becyuase there was a dead spot as far as air flow goes located right over my memory!
ok--found it..my core temp at idle is 51c under laod my core temp varies between 54c--59c depending how long I am gaming and what gam I am playing!

I hope that helps.
Also before blaming the card and the cooler make sure that you have proper airflow in the rest of your computer!

Good Luck!

The copper HS next to the caps and resistors get VERY warm.

Having a fan that?s bigger then your heatsink doesn?t really make much sense, you might be better off with the stock VF-700 if JEDIYoda's numbers are anything to go by (though they seem a bit low?).

The copper heatsink you are referring to cools the power regulation circuitry which typically runs on the hot side.

well I threw the stock cooler back on and it ildes ~55-56*c then I ran the CS:S stress test to load it and it got up around 66*c so that seems more resonable wouldnt you say?
