something i've often pondered while stoned off my arse..

okay, "what if"...

okay how do I explain this..

alright, in space.. its like.. black, right? an absence of color, yet when you look around you (ignoring stars and other actual matter) everything is black.

"what if".. it was.. clear. what would it look like?

like, if you looked around, you didn't see black, you saw CLEAR.. wow man, that would be so cool.

I mean, you look across a room, and the air is clear, so you just see through it, and you see whats behind it - the wall. well go out to space, there are no walls. so what if it was all clear like air, instead of black. what would that look like?

it is clear, not black. the reason you see black is because the atmosphere really isn't clear. it absorbs the light from really distant stars to some degree. also, a lot of light is reflected from cities so the distant stars are impossible to see anywhere near a city. go way out into the country, where there aren't any lights, turn off your car, then look up. you can actually see the milky way. looks like a cloud across the whole sky.

yes, I am well aware of all that, I just finished two semesters of stellar astronomy here at ASU with the second highest grade in all the classes, mmmkay?


but.. this is a purely hypothetical-ponder-while-stoned kinda thing

Space is clear, but there is no light, so you see black. Some light like from stars do get to your eyes and you see a bright star. Besides, you can't see clear, that's why it's clear.

I suppose if it were clear you could see the edge of the universe, which might look like the brain of the person whose dream this universe is a part of.

Ya mean if you could simply see forever? It would probably be a wall of stars... you would probably be able to see until a point where your entire vision is blocked by stars quadrillions of light years away...

dude i have ideas lik ethis all the time when i smoke........it is pretty interesting. I would assume if "space" was clear, you would be able to see everything.....stars, planets, comets etc...
