In a lot of performances and when people are recording a song they always seem to wear headphones or earbuds. What is it that they are listening to?
 
They're listening to the music. As a musician, a drummer, it is often times necessary for me to hear a different mix than what the audience or other musicians hear. I always ask the sound tech to turn the bass player's levels way up in my monitor. Can you imagine being on stage with 60,000 people screaming? I'd imagine that I couldn't hear a feckin thing without a monitor of some type.
