it's pretty weird...when i go to sites and scroll the screen is all wavy...i cant run any games because there is a directx file missing i think. when i try to install directx it doesnt even really do anything....it's worked fine since today...in my display panel i have no tabs up at the top (you cant see them) but when you click around in the area the different tabs just pop up...my resolution sometimes changes randomly from 1280x1024 to 640...it's getting pretty crazy and annoying...i was thinking about just completely reinstalling windows and starting over...but i was wondering how i could uninstall directx completely and then reinstall it so i have a fresh one with no missing files...please help..this is an x800xl radeon...dfi ultra-d nf4 mobo...if you need more specs tell me..

Sometimes when direct x is already installed and you try to install over it(if it's the same version) it seems like it doesn't do anything. This has happened to me a couple of times too. Have you tried uninstalling your video drivers in safe mode and then using driver cleaner with the ATI filter selected? Sounds like your video drivers may not have installed correctly. Does windows actually give direct x missing file error?

no i dont have onboard video...the only thing my video can run through is my video card, there are no other ports for video (one blue one from the vid card itself, none from the mobo)

Hmmm...not sure if you could uninstall direct x completely...I've tried before and could not find a way to do it(this was a long time ago though). Have you tried using an older windows restore point(when your system was working correctly)? Other than that you might be better off to do a fresh install.

Yes, if you search around for some direct x removal programs you'll find a few but most of them seem to be for older versions of direct x such as 5 or 6. I'm still looking though...
