hello. ever since i built my PC last june I always had a problem with one device remaining undetected in my device manager. everything that's plugged in to my pc works perfectly.. and nothing is 'unaccounted' for...

i've tried unplugging all my USB devices to see if it would make it disapear but no luck there !!

the only idea i have is that it might be my motherboard that has one thing that's not installed.. i know whenever i install the nforce4 chipset drivers i never install the forceware/firewall component.. could that be it ?

obviously windows fails to detect what kind of hardware it is.. so i really have no clue otherwise.. it isnt' a problem or anything.. just a mystery i'd like to solve

What does Device Manager Show with a Yellow ? mark as being bad ? ?
You may have to click on the + sign to expand that entry to see what it should be.

Also run AIDA32 or Everest Home Editon ... they will tell you all about your
software and Hardware ... you should then be able to figure out what you
forgot to install ... both programs are on majorgeek.com

in device manager it just says 'unknown device' and when i expand that it says another 'unknown device'

i installed and ran aida32 and looked everywhere and it does not make any mention of this unrecognized device anywhere

If you open that "unknown device", what does it say about location, resource usage, Device ID string (in Details tab)?

location : on PCI bus

Device Instance Id : ACPI/ATK0110\1010110

i didn't find anywhere where it says ressource usage. In the device status it just says :

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

So it's a PCI device ... what is its Hardware ID? (Again, Details tab, second or third item on the dropdown list)
