ok i put the new system together, everything came up fine. I started to load os and after formating drive and installing OS upon reboot it would BSOD and say your bios ont ACPI compliant, check bios etc. So i start looking for bios and a floppy drive. But when i go to restart it now after i shut it down i get no video
nothing, nada

Everything powers/spins up. Green light on MB but nothing on monitor. I can hook this monitor to another system and it works fine so i know its not that. It is just a VGA monitor using the dvi adapter. So please anyone who has built recently with any ideas help, i really wanted this for christmas :(

this is A8N32-SLI ASUS mb
Opteron 175 CPU
2 gig Mushkin RAM
7800gtx
NEC dvdr
WD4000yrhd
Seasonic 500w ps

PLEASE HELP , ill be googling my life away but im sure the answer will be found here.

thx

Make sure your GPU is all the way in the socket. That sounds like its not plugged in all the way.

yes reset the cmos jumper.
Dont see it as hot at all, i was getting the BSOD from the ACPI compliant error, was happeningn over and over. SO i was going to get bios upgrade. I shut it down was off for like 30 min. went and got old floppy and hooked that up and restarted but then there was no Video.

I have reseated everything, took the HS/FAN off reseated the cpu ,etc
took the MB out of the case still nothing. Powers up, fans spinning etc No video. It doesnt Post or anything. It cant over heat in 2 seconds, i can touch the CPU without the fan on it its not hot and before it was posting splash screen and going into bios just fine.
please anyone HELPPPPPPPPPPPP. Is this MB dead? it took forever to find this thing and it will prob take like a month to get it RMA and back to me. im just so disappointed

Which slot is your video card in, 1 or 2?
Also, you say you're using a DVI adapter...when you plug the monitor into a different system, do you use the same adapter? (i.e. it might be the adapter)

tried both slots for the video card, also tried both adapters that came with card. Like i said it was working this afternoon when i put it all togehter and turned it on. I got that BSOD error so i just shutdown and was going to go flash the bios but when i hooked in floppy and restarted i get NOTHING. everything seems to have power, fans running spinning etc but no video at all, monitor light doesnt come on. I might put it back in a case and try hooking it up to my dvi monitor but i dont think thats the problem, it just seems like its not starting up, usually you would get a sound or something? but there is no speaker on this MB so i dont know, im lost at this point

hi,
try moving to just 1 stick of ram and run memtest86 if you can get that far.
also, are there any beep or voice error codes from the motherboard?

He's not getting beeps, and can't read the screen for memtest yet...but moving to a single stick is an excellent idea. You should also give the DVI monitor a go as well...I've seen those adapters go bad before, and the results are just what you're describing.

I think you should definitely take this to a local computer shop and let an experienced tech handle it, before you blow a fuse dude.

btw once its fixed you'll definitely be happy you didnt get a dell. I'm sure glad that I didnt and I went through hell to get my system to boot properly...so much so that even though the bios is now updated i'm scared to get a dual core for it might not work!

Just a check: you did get the PCI-Express power cable hooked up to the 7800GTX, and gave the motherboard all three power cables, right? ATX12V at the upper-left corner above the CPU, the main ATX cable, and the 4-pin Molex-style EZ-Plug?
