Personally I'm hoping for a faithful 'remake' or 'remaster' of sorts. Essentially some housekeeping that gives the game better native multiplayer support and brings it up to speed so that it runs more easily on Win7/in high res and the like. Maybe even 'built in' addon support and some kind of official 'hub' for them to be housed, kind of like Curse or an 'app store' sort of environment.

I don't think that running on a iPad or other tablet is a bad thing as long as the content is worthy of the name. Of course a tablet only version would suck.

The Infinity Engine port GemRB can already play Baldur's Gate on tablets and phones anyway, so if that was true, it would just be completely anti climactic.

Point is, the cross section of gamers and those who play games on an Ipad is pretty small. I can't imagine that it would be big enough to make any sort of profit out of the venture.
