My Computer:

Windows 2000
Pentium III 700 Mhz OC'd to 903Mhz (very stable)
384MB RAM
ATI All in Wonder 128 Pro 32 MB
IBM 30GB

I have one application, CyberGenie, which just kills my system when it is running. I can see that the CPU is 99% idle, and there is plenty of RAM. How can I check the I/O? That's the only other thing I can think of.

The problem is really weird. When CyberGenie is running some applications run really slow, and some normal. For example, installing software (doesn't matter what it is) takes about 10 minutes after double clicking until the installer unpacks and hits 100% and is ready for the installation process. WIthout CyberGenie running, it takes 5 seconds. Starting up Photoshop is very slow. It takes about 1 minute, slowly reading in all the fonts, while normally, it is up in seconds. But some applications, like IE or Outlook run just fine.

Anyone have any ideas? How can I see what's happening under the hood here?

Thank you.

try using the task manager and see how much cpu time the cybergenie program is taking up...not sure if windows 2000 is still the same like NT 4.0...press control alt delete and it should pop up a menu where u can select task manager.
