Something in the cylinder...

alfa147x

Lifer
Today when i started my 94 altima it was kinda vibrating, so when i got home from school (Mom had to drop me ...) i took out the spark plugs and the 2nd cylinder was full of a watery oily non gas liquid to about 3/4 inch above the spark plug
I took all the spark plugs out 2 and 3 have this reddish orange tint right at the bottom most part of the ceramic part of the plug.
so i took the valve cover off and checked to see if the gasket was torn it was fine
then i put the cover back on and turned the engine with no spark plugs to try to get all the liquid out and now 2 and 3 have gas in them ...
Last time i had a problem with flooding cylinders i changed the MAF think its the MAF again? Im taking it back tomorrow as it is under warranty

Thanks
~Alfa147x

Excuse the grammar

taking pictures of the plug and stuff would be easier for us to tell u what it might be.

anything above the sparkplug did not come from the engine. the watery stuff can just be from rain/snow etc and the reason why it got in there because was a improper or bad spark plug wire seal.

and as for your orange thing....

😕

I'm sorry, but you really have no idea what you're doing, do you? Took the valve cover off? To check.. what gasket?

Does the engine run? Does it smoke? What are the symptoms, other than "kinda vibrating"?

Put the damn spark plugs back in it.

When you say the "cylinder" was filled with fluid up past the spark plug, do you mean the tube where the plug wire slips down over the plug? Fluid in the spark plug tubes can cause a missfire and rough running condition.

If so, the fluid is most likely oil mixed with water (assuming you have washed or detailed the engine anytime in the last few weeks). If it is just oil, then the leak it will be from the valve cover seal where it meets the spark plug tubes.

I think thats what happened because the night before this i degreased the engine
wow i thought of that on the way home and you had posted it
Kudos
🙂

I hope you soaked up the fluid around the spark plugs before you pulled them out....That watery/oil crap won't do too well down in the cylinders....
The plugs don't look that bad. Wouldn't hurt to drop a new set in. Sounds more like you had a moisture problem from degreasing the engine...

plugs are 100% normal looking.

problem... WTF are you doing with BOSCH plugs on a nissan. please stick with the OEM plugs. NGK/ Denso. they are 1.99 or less at any autostore. ask for the copper ones. they last 30k

cardiac is right... i assume the most orange one is #2 and that still isn't a HUGE deal.

but get new plugs and wires, i still think its a sealing failure. Looks like no oil anywhere in the threads so its not your spark plug tube seals.

do you have a CEL on? its highly doubt its your MAF.

I dont know if what your trying to say would be a possbile misfire or not.. it doesn't sound like it.

Does it really matter what brand plugs they are? This time i bought NGK plugs for $1.98
every thing runs fine now
The CEL is off, but the last time we had excess gas in the engine it was due to a bad MAF

Thanks for the help 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
