Hi,

Well, in the process of "courting" a girl I really like, she asked me to make her something musical, since she likes the fact that I am a musician and likes what she hears when I play guitar. I've messed around with mixing on the pc, but never really sat down and put it all together. She inspired me, so I decided to not only put something together for her, but make it the best I could for her. I tweaked the mix as tight as I could. Its made completely on the pc using fruity loops, samples from Natural Studios, and some other random samples. I then used wavelab to fine tune the final mix. Not perfect, but a big progress for me in my ability to make music on the pc.

Anyways, i put alot of time and emotion into this track, and hope you all like the feel of it. Everything is original in terms of beat and melody. I guess its a little repetitive, but it is kind of intended to be soundscapish more than just a "song". Kind of like Chroma key stuff I guess. I think its pretty smooth myself and I really like how it came out.

If you care to listen to it, I have two links. First is for a compressed 112Kbps mp3, and the second is a higher quality 168Kbps mp3.

Decent Quality - 7megs

Better quality - 10 Megs

I know :D, but that was the first thing that I thought of, but it is interesting sounding. Got a good beat.

Yea I've been thinking that. Its pretty much a soundscapish groove now. I was thinking about adding some more "song" elements, possibly vocals or a lead guitar as well as cutting it down to about 4-5 minutes.

i was also thinking about changing up the bass line a little, but that takes away from the consistency.... its a toss up for me. I might just take this as is and move on to something else.

It sounds pretty good considering that you are an amateur working with Fruity Loops. It does sound like you are an amateur working with Fruity Loops though.

This song makes me think of some 80s movie where the main dude is breaking into a high-security building all covert and sh!t, putting plastic explosives on the wall, and quietly blowing his way in while breaking a lot of necks and using a blowgun.

Nice and pleasant background music.

The hippityhoppity types around me in the office aren't offended like they usually are when I play my music. Soft stuff like Slayer and Pantera. Dunno why they are bothered by that. Not like I'm playing Rammstein... :p

It's nice, but it's all buildup and no payoff, like old school background videogame music. I imagine I'm exploring a spooky 2D castle to this music. But for spacey soundscape it's okay. If your goal is scoring some long slow anal then this might do it.

Yeah. Long, slow anal.......

Anyway, it does kind of need a payoff to it, but otherwise it's ok. Listen to someone like DJ Shadow and hear how he can have slow songs but still has a payoff.
