Someone (I'm not telling unless he outs himself) IMed me today asking me for advice on Vonage.

However, he mentioned that he understood if I ignored him because he and I share radically different political views and have had heated debates in OT and P&N.

My first reaction was WTF??? :shocked:

I am here at AT first and foremost because I'm a geek and seek the fellowship, advice and support of fellow geeks. I was naively amazed at the idea that anyone would let some petty political debates alienate them from the very people they came here to meet with.

After I had time to think about it I guess some people hold a grudge. But it just seems silly to me.

This thread is here to tell everyone that no matter what kind of OT debates we have, I will always lend support or offer honest geek advice because, well, that's what we're all really here for in the first place, right?

This thread is also here so others can make the same pledge.

I hope we are above this kind of crap, no matter how heated our OT debates may be.
 
Some people get really worked up over political and religious debates and take them personally. I agree that seems kid of odd to those of us who derive our opinions logically and actually welcome healthy debates as a way of expanding our knowledge and understanding.
