Something funky about my DVI on my Dell 1801FP

I bought a Dell 1801FP about 15 months ago. Last week sometime, I woke up and went to turn on my monitor, which did nothing. It remained completely black although the power light was green (it did not say 'no signal'). I thought my system just hung so I didn't think too much.

The same thing happened when I got home that evening. I have to unplug the DVI connection and power and do it a couple of times to get the display back. The system, sans display, was completely normal. It's like it loses some sort of syncronization signal. I turned off the 'sleep' mode, which didn't do anything, since the next time I turned off the display it didn't wake cleanly anyways.

However, VGA connection doesn't seem to exhibit this at all. Anyone have a clue what's going on? I have the Dell 1801FP drivers up to date.

nVidia card? If so, could be an instance of the EDID issue. You might want to Google EDIE and 1800FP.
