Just caught this over on MSNBC and thought it offered a interesting view into the current political climate in Russia.

Hmmm...maybe I should add "and why it's all Bush's fault" to the thread title? ;):p

Interesting read. Khodorkovsky sounds like a real bastard
Though strangely shy in public settings, the former Communist youth leader was not easily intimidated. He had employed ruthless tactics to build his own bank and take over the state?s Yukos oil company in an auction that the state had hired him to organize. During his rise, he cut out minority shareholders, defaulted on foreign loans and sued regulators who dared to interfere.
but so does Putin
Putin does not tolerate much open opposition. His team has shut down television stations, stripped power from regional governors and removed rivals from election ballots.
Still, Khodorkovsky, isn't in political office and has to make no excuses for his selfish behavior. Putin, on the other hand, is semingly trying to maintain not only a position of power, but of dominance.

*Shrug* Should make a good movie some day.

Heh. Good idea, but it would probably be produced by the communist party and be filled with over the top inaccuracies about Putin, and never be aired under severe political pressure from Putin supporters, :Q:D

In Soviet Russia, the TV movie cancels you.
