Somethin' wrong with my RAM?

It's rated to run @ 2.5-3-3-6 or something close to that... and I was curious so I was wondering around my BIOS the other day, turns out it's running closer to 2.5-7-7-10... Uhhh, what the heck. Any ideas? I've manually set it to 2.5-3-3-6 and it failed to POST, but when I put it near that, there's no performance increase anyway, i'm just curious as to why it would be running at these speeds. (Biostar P4VMA-M motherboard)
