I registered my name as a domain a few months back www.jaymefall.com I basically wanted it so I could have my name in my e-mail address and also I wanted to play around with linux hosting.. so I am hosting my own webserver and mail server with it. Anyways, a band that has the same name some how e-mailed me asking if I would sell it, and how much

What do you think I should tell them? I mean if the price is right I dont mind registering another domain and setting that up. What do you think would be a reasonable price to ask? I have no idea what people sell domains for, there is absoultly no traffic on my site either

try to figure out if they make much/any money.

Maybe ask them what their 'budget range' is?

Host it for them, so that if the band is a failure you still have the domain ;)

Be happy if you can get 1,000. Try to rip them off and they'll just change their name like Linkin Park. More than likely this is one of those scams where they say they're interested in your site name, but don't want to buy it from you...instead they want you to host some portal or something that's part of this frickin mail order shiznit or whatnot.

Ya, I dont think they want to change their name, they have had it for a long time.. I think they just want the name, they were saying that they always wanted to register it and just never got around to it, then one day they checked and seen that I registered it.

I dunno about the $1,000 seems a little high don't ya think? I was thinking like $150 I really don't know.

I was actually talking to them a few months back, they e-mailed me because they were courious about my name and stuff and how it was so weird when they seen it and stuff. I guess a long time ago a name came to the person or something in a dream and thats what he called his band I guess. So it doesn't look like he is joking about buying it

Are you guys being serious, do you really think I should ask for $1,000?

First rule of negotiation: Never come to the table first with the offer. They asked you if you would sell it, make them commit first, see what they have to spend and go from there.

see if one of the other top level domains has it open and then either sell yours or point it out to them.

$250 sounds good. If they only offer about $100, I'd rather keep the domain name since you use it and all.

Yep, keeps timing out for me. Someone who can get to it needs to host a pic on something w/more bandwidth.
