Maybe it's because I have the itch to buy something again. Maybe it's the fact that my tax return just came in. Maybe it's the recent Anandtech review...
I'm very happy with my UL30A-A2. My only complaint is that I can no longer game on the go. Since I'm home most of the time now (work from home) it hasn't been much of an issue, but I do travel from time to time and once in a while I find myself longing to play a quick CS: S match or fire up Titan Quest. Try those on a 4500MHD - not a fun experience.
I read the Anandtech Alienware M11x review, and started to get that itch again. You know the one - when a new line of graphics cards is released, even though you just bought one six months ago, or when a new shiny case is released, even though you have three out in the garage already. It looks like a perfect solution for me - it's decently small and portable, it has decent battery life, and yet it still packs a punch. It should be plenty to play pretty much whatever I throw at it, since my desktop will still be my primary gaming rig. It would also allow me to dedicate my UL30A to work, and keep the M11x for personal use and play.
My main concerns are, of course, that it's a waste of money (just to play games with), the fact that having two separate laptops is way over the top and geekish, and the lack of Nvidia Optimus (driver support). If there was a similarly-spec'd laptop, perhaps larger and with worse battery life for a bit cheaper, I'd grab that instead.
What do you guys think? Waste of money, or go ahead and indulge?
