so I'm finally making a move towards a dually. picked up an opty 165 and an asrock 939 board.

anyway, now I need a new case.

was thinking about an antec slk3000b. it's about $50.

but when I saw the P180 today at Frys, I was like holy sh1t, I want that.

Microcenter will have the case onsale for $120 plus tax on jan 1st. I have 3 days to change my mind. someone please talk me out of it as spending more than $120 on a case is rather, well, excessive. I've never paid more than $60 for a case. I don't know, you guys feel like talking me out of it? alternatives?

thanks

the P180 is a great case. im glad they leave out a PSU so you can pick your own. its one of the most important pieces, so getting a POS is a bad choice. installation is just as fast as any other case ive ever dealt with (assuming you have the basic skills required to be a functional adult, which some people may not).

lian-li doesnt offer the features that come with the p-180. it has superior air flow, looks badass, and is very quiet if you care about that. the all 120mm fan slots and separated PSU/hdd slots sold me for sure. not only that, but everything inside is lined with rubber to reduce vibration and it comes with the sweetest "front doors" for very easy access to the fan filters. the fan covers open like the big front door.

im actually not biased contrary to how it may seem. i am just so completely in love with this case (as much as is deemed healthy) that i feel like everyone should have it.

Installation... Ewww...

P160 is cheap and nice. Go with that.

it rattles. not worth it.

Not mine. I have a Yate Loon medium speed that pushes 70some CFM in the front in addition to the stock Antec fan in the back. I have a Panaflo medium 120mm for my CPU and if I turn everything on to full blast it's still fine.

Gotta love the drive trays though. I think it's a fine case, although a bit large. I was surprised when it stood next to my SX830 because they're the same height. I thought the P160 was a midtower...

P150 looks very nice on the inside 🙂.

With the hard drive suspension, along with foam, very nice silencing case 🙂 But not as good as the p180.

yea, I considered the P160 too, but I was hoping for something with a front door. Although of the 3 antecs I've owned, not a single door survived, that plastic tab always breaks. And plus, that vent in the front rubs me the wrong way, something about it just doesn't sit right with me.

I had to stop myself when compusa had it for $100 over black friday. I have to say though, when I build my next comp, lol, prob 5 years before I'll have the money (stupid college), I'll be buying the p180 or whatever messed up updated version they have.

once you get it u'll realize how sh*t ur old case and many of those being sold are and u will become an elitist bastard

well i mean... if you really want me to talk you out of it, just know that when you buy a P180, god kills a kitten.... and shrinks ur pee pee. THERE NOW YOU WONT BUY IT! MUHAHAAH

<-- evil inside 😉

The P180 wll come to life while you're sleeping and devour your soul. It is known.

How's that for motivation for not getting one? 😉

Go ahead and get the P180, but send it to me! Then you will get the satisifaction of BUYING one, but you don't have to GET it...

just get it. I have it, it rocks. The airflow is so awesome that it has eliminated 100% of the system instability I have gained from the additional heat loads in my old Chieftec from the last year or two and it's damn quiet too...

man, if only the P180 had a window, i'd be all over it!

but hey...thats what moddings all about, right?

Um.... you do know that the window was deliberatley left out because the doors and panels are all triple sound insulated steel and foam, right? A window would completley eliminate one of the best features of the case...
