Whats the best deal/highest overclocker? The Corsair? The Team ram looks kind of ugly to me but if its the best I'll just put some lip stick on it and plug er in

I would go with the Corsair, always had good results with their RAM and it is the best deal after rebate. Never used the team brand, but based on micron chips like corsair so they should be okay. I noticed you have to install the heat spreaders, but that's not a big deal. Also, it'll probably take 12 weeks to get that rebate.

Thanks, I like Patriot (Liked them better when they tested for overclocked speeds) but I got a bad set and have been a little weary ever since.

The only problem I have with the Team is I have to install the ram sink, which of course isn't that big of a deal, just seems like for $270 they could do it. Just having trouble deciding between the Corsair and Team :( I know the guys at xtreme systems like the Team ram better though. I've seen a few RMAs on the Corsair lately as well, don't know it that was isolated however,

Any of them will make a bad unit here or there... that is any Manufacturer.

What is Important is How Easy the RMA process is. Patriot, Crucial, and Wintec are Very Good...

Corsair used to be Easy as pie... then they started to make you jump through hoops with the RAM guy... and his scripted tech Support that further delayed the RMA process for nothing....

Team Group is New On the Scene.... and I know the Guys that are Using it Like it, and Swear by it... I have no personal Experience with their RMA Process...

For the zillionth time:

Team doesn't install the heatspreader for various reasons.

The main one being that it does not reduce temps!

Just because most RAM comes with them now doesn't mean it's better that way.

Extreme air cooling is just as good w/o spreaders, if not better w/o.

It also means you can check what chips you got w/o ripping off spreaders.

And yes, i know that with some, Corsair's Dominator series., e.g., there is a claimed large temperature drop.
I don't believe it though.

If there was such a great drop in temps from using their miraculous heatspreaders, then they wouldn't need to include fans like they do.

Now that being said, anything from the list Mr Fox mentioned is good, though i am not positive the Patriot or Wintecs are D9s.

All the others i know are D9 chips.

I have this memory in my system now (E6600, eVGA 680i, 8800GTX). It came as a package deal from Newegg with the motherboard, $20 off. Not too bad.

I'm having some kind of hardware or system instability problems lately (hopefully they're fixed now - stable for about two hours and counting, no overclocking), so I haven't had a chance to test it out. Once I get everything stable and set, I'll see what I can push it to.

Yes, yes, I understand it doesn't really effect cooling, I don't understand why people believe that putting a thin little piece of aluminum (Painted no less) would really effect cooling. That being said however, it makes it look better :)

Heatspreaders tend to ease my concern about ESD when I'm handling the RAM
