you guys should really learn to securely lock your bikes. get a nice cable and wrap it around your front/back and frame.

they insure that if properly locked up your bike will never get stolen(on certain locks)

If your bike is a distintive bike, then get in contact with the nearby bike shops, and let them know about it. I know someone who got their bike back because the thief took it in to a shop 6 months later, two towns over.

Easy for you to say, but do you ride it to work every day?
Is it your main source of transportation?

Dunno how things go over there in the UK, but here in the states something like a bike getting jacked is covered under your homeowner's insurance. I had one stolen in college (my first real race bike too, dammit) and got a new one under my folk's insurance (I was still considered a dependent at the time).
Just FYI. Sorry about the bike. I'd go bananas if someone walked off with my Bianchi.

LOL. Guess why?
Sorry to hear about your bike though, hope they catch the ass who did it. Might as well get a beater bike to take to and from the train station so nobody will want it![]()

That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the topic.

Im just wondering seeing your thread and so many others that ride bikes do they make any kind of bike insurance like they do for cars for this very situation and if not maybe I should look into being the only one to start it up?

I remember having my bike stolen in high school. It was my primary mode of transportation to/from work 1.5 miles from home. I was working minimum wage $3.35/hr only 20 hrs a week. Took me two weeks walking to/from work to make enough to replace with another bike. Bastards!!! I still remember to this day.
