Someone start me off in the right direction . . .

I don't have a static ip either. It remains the same for sometimes months, but it sometimes does change. Anyone got a clear set of directions for me?

Thanks!

Use a dynamic Domain Registrar such as No-IP.com or DNS2GO...

I have no idea if godaddy offer such an option but if you have a dynamic ip you want a domain to point to then you need to have a program running which updates the dns information of the domain automatically everytime your external ip changes, at least that's the way dns2go and no ip do it 🙂

On godaddy there is an option for domain redirection. . .could I redirect it to http://24.138.43.1 (just made up for example). . .?

You *could* do that but you will have to update it everytime your ip changes.

If you use a dynamic registrar like dns2go like i said, you can download their little program that updates it automatically for you everytime your ip changes, but if you don't want the bother of that then sure, just re-direct the domain to your server's ip address and update it whenever the ip changes 🙂

Well like I was saying I may have the same ip for months, have had this once since October last year. . ., I don't mind it going down for a day or two when/if it changes (just for me playing around on). . . So if anyone else knows anything about doing this let me know, but so far this seems like the best way to do it. . .

Have a look at Zone Edit you get 5 domains redirected for free. And a auto updater for your changing IP address.
