Someone sniffing for Team AnandTech passwords?

No Lifer
I just received this:

You, or the person at this address (68.232.35.27), has requested to send
your Team AnandTech password.

WTF is going on??

It could be a errant click by an unintending person, or it could be purposeful. Still, the teamanandtech site is maintained (well, they never put anything new there, or haven't for the past few decades, so I'm not sure that qualifies as "active maintenance") by a few members here, not by the AnandTech staff, so I'm not sure that the Forum Issues is the right place for this (said members would probably be more likely to notice a thread about their site if it were in ATDC). 🙂

It looks like the real seti site. I am not sure how anyone can steal your password by going to the real site. Generally, when someone tries to get your info they make a fake site that looks like the real one. Question is, why did you get that email?

I got the exact same email (from the same IP) earlier this morning...I've posted a thread in DC about it.

I got one too but thought nothing of it until I saw this thread. Same IP and everything.

Are you implying that you didn't get one, and stating that they might possibly be going after "high-profile" targets? 😕

I guess, it has got nothing to do with the member status.
anyway, the ip address belongs to someone in PA. May be moderators can do a reverse-lookup with ip addresss and members logging from that ip

Hmm, and I assume that you are registered at the teamanandtech site (you must have a separate registration there, as that site is not tied into the same userdatabase as this one)? If so, this might be getting more interesting... 😕

This is getting ridiculous. This is the third one I got.

I havent gotten an email, and I am a member of team AT...

I've gotten one as well, same IP and dated 9/23 2:31AM. I got one of these a week or two ago as well, but I don't remember if it was the same IP.

Just got another one; Visualroute shows a Pittsburgh, PA location; DNS translates it to 68-232-35-27.pittpa.adelphia.net.
