I had thought it was my fop32-1 that was so loud, but now I'm thinking that it might be the antec 300 watt ps. I had 2 of these cases and just put a chrome orb in the other one which should be pretty quiet but it is just as loud as the last, anyone know if its ok to pull the power to the motherboard then power up just to see how loud the ps is by itself?

Daniel,

if you have an ATX setup your PS won't turn on if disconnected from the motherboard.

The Fop32-1 is about 35.5 and the fop38 is about 46!. Remember that is logorithmic... so every increase in 10... means ten times the intensity. (however humans only percieve 10X the intensity as 2X the intensity).

If you connect the green wire on your ATX power supply header to ground, it will turn on!

Jwyatt is correct. 3db is twice! dB = 20 log10 ratio. --> 20dB is 10x!!!!!

Peter, MSEE :)

O)h, BTW 36dB --> 46dB, or 10dB diffrence -> Sqrt[10] ~ 3.xxx. Or in other words that darn Delta fan is 3 times louder than the other one!!!
