I've always thought of it as "Personal Digital Assistant". A lady comes by my cube today, whom is taking inventory, and asks What does PDA stand for? So I tell her Personal Digital Assistant. Some other guy told her Personal Device Assistant... wtf. Then our Senior Systems Engineer chimes in and says no, it's "Personal Data Assistant". She says thanks to him and just takes his word on it. So I google around and see that most call it exactly what I do. Is this not the correct terminology? I'm not one to speak up against the others... but am I wrong here?

Your systems engineer and that lady are both morons. It's personal digital assistant.

I've heard Personal Digital Assistant and Public Displays of Affection.

Other things it could mean:
Pretty Dumb Admin
Purple Dinosaur Apocalypse

You dumbarse... read my OP. I did google and found that it's the same as what I've always said. It's just that our main IT guy says otherwise and I'm not gonna argue w/ him.

Your OP says that it's what most people call it, not that it's necessarily correct. Your OP asks if it is the correct terminology.

I think you're correct, because most non-Palm devices are called Pocket PCs instead.
