Depending on your service speed, you can use almost anything in the arris/motorola sb-line--that is unless you have a phone line through them. Then your best bet is to just stick with their modem.
I'm using the Arris SVG2482AC; it's a 3-in-1 model that handles voice as well as wifi. So far, no problems with Xfinity, and I'm getting more bandwidth down than the plan I signed up for offers, at least most of the time. Seems a solid unit for $185 from Amazon.
Have had the Netgear 32 X 8 model with the 1Gbps plan and it's been flawless for over a year now. I get the full bandwidth and never had it look up or needing a reboot.
