Just heard it on Howard Stern. Now the religious right wants to regulate things you SPECIFICALLY pay for!! Channels like HBO that you have to request and pay for specifically.

Hrmm, what's next. Movie theaters can't show R rated films anymore?

As I was taking a shower this morning, I thought to myself, "self, you know what the problem with the world is?"

"What?", I answered myself.

"The religious and moral beliefs of other people don't control my own personal choices enough.", I said to myself.

Ok, not really, those people can blow me. And, to the religious right, believe me when I say this: I'm sure you're ultra-conservative, sheltered beliefs are fine and dandy for you...but if you don't keep them to yourself, I'm going to have to hurt you :)

Its a good thing the republican party is for smaller government involvement and less intrustions into people's lives...well, at least when it comes to guns anyway. Its like for everything else they just can't keep their sticky fingers out of it lately.

There's a good quote, can't remember who said it, but it's very fitting.

"Remember when the Republicans used to be the party that was for personal rights and small government?"

If you want that now, you are just out of luck.

Hilarious. Blame it on the right wing.

Heard of Tipper Gore? Joe Lieberman? Those are two of the biggest proponents of censorship and they're hardcore Democrats.

It's not a left or right thing, it's authoritarian vs libertarian, and like it or not, the current set of Republican leaders is substantailly more authoritarian than the Democratic leaders. IMHO, neither are that great from that point of view, the Democrats as a whole are closer.

You can't tell me the main thrust behind censorship doesn't come from the religious right. There are always expections of course, but that doesn't mean the religious right can't be blamed TOO, and they deserve most of the blame, I think.

Joe Lieberman is a scapegoating turd. He was the reason I was forced to vote for Bush last election. But I don't think he spearheaded a lot of the crap coming out of patriot 'roll back our freedoms' act. Both parties suck at this, each one of them just fighting for a handful of rights they like while trying to revoke others they do not. But the democratic party at least doesn't have a mantra thats says they are fighting for the exact opposite of what they're doing.

I highlighted the key word in your post. Until I mentioned freedom hating Democrats, everyone was blaming Republicans for censorship. They're both to blame, the Republicrat party cares nothing about freedom, only getting elected.

That's why I had that word in caps, it is the important one. I'll admit, it's probably a stereotype thing, when I think of censorship I think of bible beaters yelling about how society is going to hell. Obviously that's not always the case, I agree that Democrats can hate freedom just as much as Republicans.
