Someone please tell me I won't have to start Metroid Prime over again

Here's the deal, I bought Metroid Prime when it first came out (pre-ordered it actually) and I got through about 65% of the game up through Thanksgiving Weekend. Well, I've been insanely busy at work so I've barely had time to play the game. Now, since I've got the weekend off I'm determined to beat the game before I get Zelda. I believe I'm at the very end of the game since I'm fighting the Metroid Prime, yet I think I'm missing a weapon, the Phazon Beam to be exact. I figured I'd get it sometime after I beat Ridley, but that didn't happen, so am I going to need this weapon to beat Metroid Prime, or can it be done without it?

I've checked some walkthroughs online and they say I should have gotten it when I beat the omega pirate, but that didn't happen. I got the phazon suit and that's it.

So am I screwed?

pretty sure you get it with the suit..dont remember...but I think you have that when you are standing in a phazon puddle

Yeah, when you fight Metroid Prime, you get it when you stand in the puddle from what I remember.

IIRC the Phazon Beam activates when you're standing in pools of Phazon during the boss fight. It's automatically added to your arsenal after beating Omega Pirate.

Cool, so it looks like I'm not screwed. I started to fight him and actually got him down to about 50% health (maybe a little less) and he tore me a new one since I lacked the coordination to dodge his Ice Beam (there was a time when I could have beat him on the first try...ah the good old days). Since I got killed I figured I'd check online and see if I needed the phazon beam to kill him and that's when I read that I should have gotten it when I killed the omega pirate...guess the walkthrough was wrong.

All I need to do now is backtrack and find some more missles or an energy tank so I can have at least 75% of the items before I beat the game.

Thanks for the help.
