okay. here's my MAJOR problem i'm having.

just got done building my buddy's new computer and its being a PAIN!!!!

first of all, it wouldnt let me install WinXP for nothin'... so i said okay, i'll put Win98SE on it. okay, everything installs fine. just one problem: it wont let me shut it down through Windows. i have to manualy shut it down using the switch on the power supply.

errrrr.....

here's what he has:

950 T-Bird on an Iwill KK266+ motherboard. i'm using the on board sound (which by the way works perfectly). also i'm using a GF2-MX on the AGP slot (of course). so the only other card i'm using is the PCI modem which is in slot #3. - thats it.... nothin' else installed.

like i said, everything runs fine but the MF-er wont let me shut it down the "correct" way.

please.... any ideas?

What error do you get when you try to shut down??

Does it just stay at that windows screen? If so I believe there is a patch fix somewhere for it

In addition to the 98SE shutdown path, you also must have Power Management on and in BIOS enable Power Management awareness or the auto shutdown does not work.
