I got my hands on Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and I was very excited to try it out. Its my first metal gear game and I was expecting something very splinter cell-esque. But WTH is this?
Umm.. how exactly is this a stealth action game? The camera sucks, u could barely see the enemies on screen. Crawling through grass != fun. I just started playing and I've gotten so frustrated. I've tried sneaking through the levels so many times but u can't see the guards off the screen. So I just decided to take em out with my tranquilizer... which worked better. But is this game supposed to be a stealth game?

The most frustrating part was figuring out how to cross the bridge in the beginning... I tried everything for 1 whole hour. I finally gave up and looked online... there is a hornets nest u have to shoot down.. NOW HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT WITHOUT LOOKING ONLINE?

So I'm at the part where you are supposed to rescue solklov... umm, how exactly do you sneak up behind a guy and grab him?? Its impossible.

Is the whole game like this or is it just the beginning? WTH is this game and why do so many people find it enjoyable?? Please let me know coz its ticking me off!!!

I agree, I rented it back when I still had my PS2 and played it for about an hour before putting it back in the case. I've played the others and really liked everything about them but 3 just....well it sucked. 2 was my favorite, they did a really good job with it.

Honestly I didnt find any problems figuring out what to do in MGS3 for the short while I played it. However TBH I really only liked the first one. The second one was interesting for a short time but you never did anything twice, you learnt how to do something and then never used it again it felt like one of the worse FF games. MGS>MGS*

The MGS series has never been easy to do properly. And by that I mean there is usually ways you can manage to get through levels by killing a bunch of people, but these methods are usually never the 'intended' 'proper' ways of getting through the levels. Much like trying to beat Hitman with assassination rankings.

Splinter Cell, on the other hand, is a very easy and dumbed down game. Which isn't a bad thing. But you can't get good at Splinter Cell and then think you're going to dominate every stealth based game.

Oh and if you think that hornets nest was hard, you should have seen the boss in the first one that could disable your controller, heh.

I wasn't expecting to master this game... I was expecting it to be atleast playable. In Splinter Cell, you had the shadows to hide in. IN this game you don't have anything to hide in... yeah there is grass, but you can only hide while you are in the prone position. Once you get up, you are a sitting duck so it seems impossible to grab someone from behind.

I dunno... Maybe I have to get used to the game more... however, I already spent 4 hours trying to play it :|

entire metal gear universe and history needs to be understood for the player to enjoy the game. there's a really nice write up on gamefaqs that gives plot summaries starting from the NES metal gears.

2 bored me to tears. Maybe it was the 2 hour movies wedged in between 5 minutes of gameplay that put me off.

Well I gave up... there is absolutely no way to play this game with the crappy camera. The First Person view sucks big time.
I put it up on ebay, hopefully I'll be able to recoup the money I wasted on this game.
One of the worst games I've ever played in my life.... :| :| :|
