So i knew it was a good deal - he is in college with me, and lives in the dorms - but i went to dell to find it, and couldnt find a 171 lol

he showed me pics, but anyways


anyone heard or have a Dell 17 inch LCD Model 171?

If so is it good? good for games and what not?

he might mean the 1701, which is the model i have and it absolutely rocks. great for gaming, super clear on DVI. the only thing i don't like about it is the thick bezel.

Dude I say go for it. Forget the nay sayers. You could buy this and if you dont like it you could sell it here and make a little profit. Thats an extremely good price. Buy it before these nerds fire up craiglist.
 
Take a firsthand look at it, use it for a bit and then decide. I'd ask if you can test it out on your system for a day or two.
