Someone needs a timeout

This was taken from page 2 of this post in Hot Deals and the poster's username was jnmunsey

I take my old computer junk and lug it to the roofs of buildings and drop them off the edge, sometimes 30 stories up. It makes for some cool entertainment. I hit some old lady's wheelchair with a 17" dead Idek monitor once when she got up to get a drink of water in the plaza below. Man that scared the crap out of her. Her depends must have been soiled good.. I've squashed a few rat dogs pretty good too. I could hear the yelps all the way to the roof.

What part of inappropriate doesn't he understand?? I know that OT can be a bit "out of whack" but surely this would be beyond the acceptable norms in either Hot Deals or OT!!

BTW, when someone posted to tell this person they "needed some help", this was his response:
I need help regardless. Help!

Help me!
Let's give him the "help" he deserves; a timeout for some attitude adjustment.

Appreciate your opinion, though it differs with mine. Let's hope the Mods make the right decision and I guess we'll live by that.

Curious though; you say that you don't think hitting "some old lady's wheelchair" with a monitor from several stories up; scaring the "crap out of her" or squashing a few "rat dogs" by dropping monitors off a roof is a post worth a ban?? You say you've seen worse? I would then ask why AT is letting those "worse" comments go by?? Do you condone them by chance? I'm not trying to be a "do-gooder" by any means but that really seems to be off the chart a bit. Perhaps I'm not used to the crap that goes on in OT but I would remind you that this was a post in Hot Deals; not OT or P&N.

Sadly, so have I XietyCOM; that doesn't make it all right IMO.

There was a time that OT had a bunch of animal cruelty posts, with links to the videos and the mods did not even lock them. So, I doubt this kid will get banned. He needs a azz whupping, if he does what he claims, but he probably wont get banned.

:)

er was he serious? I thought it was a quote from some guy named crazyeddie... unless he's crazyeddie and signs all his posts like that. Inwhich case he's an idiot then, but i don't see anything worth banning over.

After searching his other posts, I am lead to believe he was joking. That was the only post on which he signed "Crazy Eddie," plus his others exhibit much more maturity and knowledge.

I actually posted in reply to that, about something that I saw on Letterman or Conan once, something off-the-wall about dropping random crap out of the studio window several stories up into a back alley.

My initial impression of that other post was that he was joking - at least, I sincerely hope so. If he, for whatever reason, wasn't, then I would hate to encourage such behavior, and I apologize for responding to his post in the thread. I am vaguely curious though, could his reply have been a line from a movie?

Assuming for now that he was joking, it seems a little severe for a ban, especially if he has other posts that are not like that. This place could use a little more random levity instead of the rampant flaming and fr331p0ds spamming that's been going on lately. Even Hot Deals.

Hmm. After doing some google searches for "crazy eddie" and "crazy ed", it appears that the character was quite popular. I'm pretty sure that the post was a joke, and that the poster was attempting to emulate "crazy eddie", whomever he is. So I vote against the ban. (If I have any say in the matter, that is.)

I think you have to look at his post as having two parts. The first paragraph, the one I quoted, is no doubt (because of the content) a direct response to the thread and the second paragraph MIGHT be some sort of quote from a movie or book, etc. That is probably why he signed it crazyeddie or whatever because the theme of that quote/whatever played along the same lines as his crap in the first paragraph.
Having said that and because the post seems to have differing lines of meaning to so many, a ban might not be called for but I still think a little vacation time would help his attitude. I'll remove the wording "ban" from the title.
As was mentioned though, it's not like we have a saying in this anyway.

[/end thoughtful kinda guy]

Buz2b, actually, after re-reading, I think that you are right. The fact that he said '17" dead Idek monitor', is pretty specific, and unlikely to be a line from a movie verbatim. I was actually going to edit my prior post in this thread, and suggest that a "time out" for potentially-offensive content would be warranted, but I cancelled my post. I have since re-considered, and I agree with you.

I really hope someone isn't actually injuring dogs by dropping things from rooftops - I think that would probably be a criminal offense, in any case, aside from the human and moral factors. We don't want to be encouraging that sort of behavior, even if just talking about it, here on AT.

Being an animal lover I would say vacation, unless he was joking.

Perhaps a simple Verbal Warning from one of the mods to him, to make him aware that his 'Jokes' should be made more apparent in future.

"Verbal warning"? Since when have the mods had access to our phone numbers? ;)

This has been an interesting thread with some thought provoking comments. At this point, I think we have all had our say in this matter. Let's let it die and let the Mods do what they want; if anything. I appreciate all your posts. It has been nice to have a thread with differing opinions not get dragged into some sort of name calling, etc. Cheers to AT but at least give the guy a few days of timeout to refresh his attitude.
Again, thanks to all!
