Going for a budget gaming rig. I want to keep the price around here as well.

Could someone look it over for me, my biggest concerns are about if the psu will be sufficient and if it all is compatible.

I dont need to run every game on max. I wanted to keep it around 500 as well. Most likely I will be player smaller scale games...CSS, minecraft etc.

Thanks :D

Looks like a total budget build, what kind of games are you trying to play? also whats the total coming out to?

IMHO for a "gaming" PC you need better CPU, GPU and case, rest looks OK, you need to add another $150 atleast to your budget.

You board can handle much better CPUs. maybe a X4 black edition's what you need
Bump you GPU to maybe a GTX460...
For case look at Thermaltake V4, its infact cheaper right now OR look at antec's Solution or 300 with PSU, a 430-450Watt should be enough for you

Swapped for

MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
-and-
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX

also got the thermaltake v4, it was cheaper good call.

Total is 662

Not sure how long this will be $37 AR, since it says Shell Shocker deal:
CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2

If that deal doesn't work anymore, then get this instead of the Basiq:
$63 ($43 AR) - CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2

You may also want to consider an i3-2100 + H67/P67/Z68 build. It'll be much faster for single-threaded apps, and since relatively few games seem to be really optimized for more than two cores, it might be worth it.

I strongly disagree that you need more than a triple core CPU for CSS and Minecraft... In fact, I wouldn't even recommend a triple core for those. A dual core will be fine.

OP, my guide from a few months ago is still pretty relevant. The base AMD system would suit you just fine. Add the 5670 you've already picked out to that build and you'll be all set.

mfenn's suggested build is as usual very solid, but i'd recommend getting an antec earthwatts 380W instead of the corsair 430CX simply because there's no rebate annoyance and i prefer the earthwatts, mostly because the builder series corsair psus aren't what they used to be. also, the xfx 5770 is $52 less AR than the GTX 460. as i already mentioned, a 5670 is sufficient for css and minecraft. the 5770 is overkill but gives you ample headroom to play newer titles should you want to do so in the future. the gtx 460 is beyond overkill for the op right now, and at >$50 more expensive than the 5770, going from the 460 to the 5770 decreases the system cost by >10%.

Fair enough. It really depends on whether the OP is looking for the most bang for $500 or if he wants to keep the costs as low as possible.
