Someone just shot up a Catholic mass full of school children in Minneapolis

Then killed himself. Sprayed bullets into the pews as children were attending mass after returning to school this week from summer break. Initial reports of at least 20 shot.

We need gun control in this country now. Ban semiautomatic rifles. No bump stocks, no tracer rounds, other bullshit accessories designed to increase killing efficiency. Universal registration system. Universal background checks.

Suspect was male early 20s, wearing all black. Suspect barricaded some of the exterior exit doors with 2x4s before shooting from the outside of the church into the sanctuary. Suspect appeared to throw a firework or smoke device into the sanctuary. Suspect had a rifle, shotgun, and pistol. Police say her fired all 3.

Better yet imagine being a parent and your child tells you they don't want to go to school ever again because they don't want to get shot. Try explaining to your 6 or 7-year old every day for the rest of their life that they will be safe at school only to know that nothing will change and our society will continue to put guns above the safety of our future generations.

Apparently the mass being held was specifically for kids as they returned from summer break. It was not a mass open to the general public or advertised publicly. The shooter appears to have intentionally planned it with the purpose of killing children and likely knew that the mass was going to happen at that time.

Holy shit this is so sad.

My 5 year old started Kindergarten this week and has been very anxious about us leaving him in the morning, although he's already gotten better after only 3 days. I can't IMAGINE something like this happening in school 3 days into it. Like my brain isn't able to process it.
