Since you're inside your own home I'd suggest polishing the biggest gun you own. Tends to deter scopers and it's not brandishing as long as you're subtle about it. Then if they do anything you're ready to shoot them.

Or you could call the police...but my way is more fun.
 
walk up to the window close the blinds/shades/churtains and then peek out of them and stare at whoever they are.
 
how is it brandishing if you're in your own home? You should be able to wave it around like a flag since you're in the privacy of your own home...

I agree, you should. But you can't. If someone can see it from a public area (even if you're in a private area) you can get hit with brandishing. Same as walking around nude in your house in front of your windows...if someone can see it from the street/sidewalk, it's indecent exposure.

*note: this applies here in Washington, your rules may very well be different*
